Some Of The World’s Longest Living Car Engines

There has been so much progress in the world of automobiles, and this is certainly not going to stop or even slow down anytime soon. It is very rapid that you may even think manufacturers have started coming up with new engines all of the time, but, that’s not the case. In fact, even though they are updated so very often, there are actually so many engines that continue to run in their basic and original condition. Many decades have passed since they were made and those models have actually stopped production a very long time ago indeed.

stopped production

  • The Opel CIH is an amazing car engine that was made by General Motors and was a European arm and was highly flexible. The series of engines that featured were 4 or even 6 cylinder engines with sizes ranging from 1.5 liters to 3.6 liters. Some of the most well-known cars have been fitted with the Opel’s Cam in mind.
  • Rover V8 was an engine that was used from 1967 to 2004, and it was used successfully for more than 37 years. This all-aluminium engine was first based on the Buick 215 and then used in both Buicks and Pontiacs as well. General Motors abandoned it for some reasons which stated that it was quite unreliable and also that it was very expensive. It was then sold to Rover. They redesigned it and then made it much more dependable. It still is one of the best engines to have been manufactured to this day.
  • The Renault Billancourt was used between the years 1947 and 1985, and it was one of the favorites of all of the people that used it. It was mainly sold in the United Kingdom. It was actually a very beloved car of many English generals and common people as well.

  • The AMC Straight Six was used between the years of 1964 and 2006. It was used for 42 years, and it still is a great engine. If you have preserved a car that runs on this to this day, that car would be one that would fetch you a very handsome price. American Motors Corporation first put the new inline 6 cylinder engine into a special version of the 1964 Rambler called the Typhoon. In the 4 liter form, it was one of the best features of the Jeep Cherokee, and it was officially imported first to the United Kingdom and was then still being fitted into the Wrangler as late as 2006.

This has been a guide of some of the best engines that were created many years ago, but they could still run to this day.
